NEBRASKA ENDORSEMENT OF MITT ROMNEY:

   ★ - means endorsed Romney in both 2008 and 2012

   * - means endorsed Romney in 2012

Note: Although Gov. Romney won the Nebraska primary, the Star Herald has noted it is only a beauty contest and the state's 32 national delegates will actually be chosen at the state convention.

With the help of low turnout at other state conventions, Ron Paul activists have taken over several state conventions and try to cause disruptions and take over delegate slots. This will not happen in Nebraska, but only if dedicated conservatives and republicans participate in this essential part of the system, ensuring the will of the voters is honored.

★ Governor David Heineman (R-NE)

“Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman is sticking by his man.

“Heineman has, for the second time, endorsed Mitt Romney for the Republican presidential nomination.

“Heineman said he believes Romney, with his experience as a governor, has what it takes to meet the nation’s challenges. “Mitt Romney has a proven record of balancing budgets, keeping taxes low, and creating an environment for job growth,” Heineman said.”

"In his endorsement statement, Heineman said Romney is “the only candidate who can bring true conservative change to Washington.”

"Romney, he said, has “outlined the clearest vision to move our country forward.”...

"[Senator Chuck] Hagel said he and Heineman talked about the governor’s endorsement.

" “I think the governor used his sense of politics and responsible governance (and) a good, steady understanding of what it takes to lead” in making his choice, Hagel said.

"Hagel described it as “an appropriate endorsement.” "

Full endorsement statement:

“ "In his campaign for the presidency, Mitt Romney has outlined the clearest vision to move our country forward. With exceptional leadership experience and outstanding values, Governor Romney is the only candidate who can bring true conservative change to Washington. I am proud to be a part of his team and look forward to joining him as he travels across this country discussing his strategy to build a stronger America," said Governor Heineman.”

* Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE)

Announcing his support, Senator Johanns said, “The only way we are going to reverse the failures of the last three years is if we have a president who understands the economy. Mitt Romney applied the principles he learned in the private sector to the challenges he faced leading the Olympics and as Governor. These same conservative principles can be used to fix our broken government.”
